Did Youtube killed the video star?

I don’t believe YouTube killed the video star, in some perspective I think it has allowed more artist to be recognized for their talents. It is hard to get picked up by a recording label and can cost a fortune for an unknown. With YouTube as a great medium to launch and put an unknown out to the world to be seen by the public and labels, with very little cost one might have a better chance of success. One good example is when last year for the first time   America's Got Talent got twelve acts that had been posted on MySpace or YouTube and had to submit their audition on YouTube. Four of the acts went on in the contest. One of these great talents that came from YouTube was a 10 year old girl named Jackie Evancho, she came in second place. If you haven’t heard her angle like voice, you must click on her name and listen. Another YouTube success story would be that of Justin Bieber who became an instant hit. When the band Journey in 2007 was looking for a new lead singer, they were informed about Arnel Pineda from the Philippines; (who sounded just like the original lead singer Steve Perry), on YouTube. After hearing him sing they had him come and audition then hired him.

And this is why I say YouTube  has not “Killed the Video Star”, it has given the talent and seekers a new avenue to show off and discover what is new on the horizon. As once said before on Star Search; “Keep Reaching for the Star”, any way possible.
